Ken Nugent has been practicing personal injury law since he became a member of the Georgia Bar Association in 1980. In 1989, he established Kenneth S. Nugent, P.C., which has expanded to eight locations across Georgia. The firm includes attorneys licensed to practice in multiple states, including Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, West Virginia, and Tennessee, and handles cases in those jurisdictions.

Jan P. Cohen

    Jan Cohen brings over 35 years of litigation experience, focusing primarily on personal injury, wrongful death, professional negligence, products liability, and premises liability. He possesses extensive trial experience and is skilled in alternative dispute resolution.

    Before joining Kenneth S. Nugent, P.C. as Director of Litigation, Jan served as a partner at McConnell, Sneed & Cohen and as managing partner at Weinstock & Scavo, P.C., where he fiercely advocated for his clients in Georgia and beyond. He also managed the Atlanta litigation firm Chambers, Mabry, McClelland & Brooks, representing insurers, insured parties, and self-insured corporations in liability claims. His diverse background equips him with a unique perspective, allowing him to effectively advocate for his clients.

Jan and his wife, Heidi, both natives of Atlanta, have deep roots in the community. They reside in Sandy Springs and are involved in various local organizations. Jan is an active member of Ahavath Achim Congregation, having served on the Board of Trustees, and he is also a member of The Standard Club. In his free time, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his two daughters.

Stephen J. Anderson

General Counsel

Before joining Kenneth S. Nugent, P.C. as General Counsel in 2019, Mr. Anderson focused on business law, specializing in dispute resolution. He is a registered General Mediation Neutral and has served as Special Master for the Superior Court of Fulton County, Georgia. An AV Preeminent lawyer, he achieved the highest rating from LexisNexis / Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Anderson began his career clerking for The Honorable James C. Hill of the United States Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals. He also worked as a Corrections Officer at the State Prison in Trenton, New Jersey, prior to law school. A former captain of his college lacrosse team, he actively supports youth sports and serves as an officer and board member of Atlanta Youth Rugby, Inc. He is married with two sons.

Matthew Kirtlink

    Matt Kirtlink earned his B.S. in Political Science and History from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, before obtaining his J.D. from Mercer University School of Law. He is licensed to practice in both Georgia and Florida and has dedicated his career to representing clients in South Georgia. Matt focuses on cases involving automobile accidents, tractor-trailer crashes, workplace injuries, and medical malpractice. His professional background includes serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the Dougherty County Bar Association and teaching as an adjunct professor at Valdosta State University, where he covered subjects like civil procedure, business law, family law, and real estate transactions. He also coached the Valdosta State Mock Trial team.
